In the middle of bustling Stone Town, within walking distance from the harbour, Zenji Hotel opened since October 2008 its doors to welcome guests.
With only 9 rooms Zenji Hotel offers the guests privacy and a time to rest, with books and games on the rooftop while enjoying a fresh juice, soda, (spice) tea or espresso coffee and homemade pastries. The rooftop offers a beautiful view over Stone Town and the harbour, especially during sunset. You can make free use of wireless Internet facilities.
Zenji Hotel involves local community and stimulates local economy. All the furniture and handicrafts in the rooms are created by Zanzibarian craftsmen. The food is bought from local people or homemade by our chef. All staff is from Tanzania. They are enthusiastic to work, The owner feels it is important to give local people a chance (and they!).
Best of both worlds
The hotel is owned by a Zanzibarian-Dutch couple who tries to integrate the best of both cultures, with traditional Zanzibarian details (such as traditional Zanzibarian beds but Western size), friendly staff, real espresso coffee/cappuccino) The breakfast is served on the rooftop and includes fresh fruits and juices, homemade bread, chocolate cake and jams, egg of your choice, fruits and (herbal) tea or espresso coffee/cappuccino.
All rooms have a different atmosphere referring to the rich Zanzibar heritage and culture but with Western comfort. The rooms have different prices, depending on your taste and choice (size, balcony, self-contained etc). All rooms have ceiling fan and Air Conditioning.
